The project “Creating a Resilient Value Chain by Mitigating the Impact of Climate Change in
Rural Areas in South Eastern Europe” (Nov 2024 – Sept 2027), supported by the Austrian
Development Agency and implemented by Bio Balkan with partners across Bosnia and
Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and Serbia, aims to strengthen the supply chain’s resilience to
climate change. It targets the expansion of regenerative agriculture (0 to 8 ha), renewable
energy capacity (40 to 120 kWp), and production output (68 to 90 tons/year), while creating 12
full-time jobs and benefiting 53 small farming families. Key activities include promoting
regenerative farming and agroforestry, installing photovoltaic systems, modernizing processing
capacities, and enhancing marketing strategies. The project builds on a successful 2020 ADA
initiative and addresses growing climate threats such as storms, pests, and water scarcity,
particularly in the vulnerable inner Balkan region. Local partners include cooperatives and SMEs
processing organic products per EU and BioBalkan standards.
